Have you ever just wanted to get out of your own way? Like deep within yourself you know that you could reach your full potential if you just moved out of the way and did the real work?
Well I have. Hi my name is Bianca and I’m a dreamer but that’s about it at the moment. I have tons of (what I believe) great ideas that will let me fulfill my heart’s desire to help others. It is currently the end of the world (well that’s what it feels like). The world is currently enduring the COVID-19 pandemic and things are a bit crazy at the moment. Forced into isolation really gives you time and space to think.
And I have realized that I need to get out of my own way. It appears that I experiencing RESISTANCE. A word that has appeared to me a few times over the past year. But during this time of isolation it has hit me to the core of my being. Resistance, as defined by author Steven Pressfield, is what stands between the life that we live and the unlived life within us.
“There’s a secreet that real writers know that wannabe writers don’t, and the secret is this: It’s not the writing part that’s hard. What’s hard is sitting down to write. What keeps us from sitting down is RESISTANCE.“
Sometimes I have these very vivid visions into that life unlived that I desire — that I know is mine. But then it fades… it was just a dream. I think that I am finally at a point where I want to Resist the Resistance. I want to start the train and keep it moving (I’ve written this sentence before).
So today, I will show up and shut up to fight the Resistance. An article by Leo Babuta provides 7 Powerful Steps to Overcoming Resistance and Actually Getting Stuff Done. Thus, the remainder of this time of isolation, I will apply these steps to my life and document the process daily.
I look forward to sharing this experience with anyone who reads this. Please leave a comment below if you are or have experienced some form of resistance in your life.
