Finding an app that fits perfectly to help you and your business grow is like finding a needle in a haystack. As of the fourth quarter of 2019, Apple reported an app store with almost 1.84 million available apps for iOS. Having every tool in the world available to you in the palm of your hands can be overwhelming, to say the least.
When finding an app that’s right for you, it’s important to define your needs first. What gaps are standing between your small business and more growth? For me, organization and efficiency are top priority. I want an app that will make my business look good, without breaking my pockets.

If you have not heard of this app, you are missing out. Canva is great for creating social media content, business cards, logos, training manuals, presentations and much more!
There is a FREE and Pro version (only $9.95/month) of the app to help meet the needs of everyone. And you don’t have to be a graphic designer to use this platform. Anyone can create custom content with Canva’s easy to use templates and tools.To unlock the platform’s full potential, there are free design courses that you can take to learn more.
You can select from a large library of templates or create your own content from scratch. Canva also provides you with an array of stock photos, so no need to hire a photographer if you can’t afford it. For an additional cost, you can even purchase premium images and icons to help you elevate your designs.
Designs can be downloaded in all the common formats (jpeg, png, and pdf). You can even order affordable prints directly from the platform. Design your business card and have them delivered right to your door. No need to use multiple platforms.
With social media connectivity, you can easily post your creations directly to Facebook, Twitter and Slack. It connects to Instagram as well so that you can easily input your photos into new creations.
Want to collaborate with a team, Canva allows you easily share and edit your designs together from virtually anywhere. And the mobile app is great to create content on the go. I personally prefer to use the web version because of all the capabilities.
Canva is great for helping you build your brand strandards. You can set your brand logos, colors and fonts for quick use.

I do not know about you, but I am terrible at grammar. This intuitive (literally used it to check my spelling just now) app helps you improve your writing seamlessly. It checks for spelling, grammar, punctuation and misused words. As a new blogger, it has been extremely helpful.
Simply install the plugin to your browser and it works on most websites. I use it at work to spellcheck my emails, social media posts, and website content. There is even a desktop download that will help you proofread your content on other platforms.
In grad school, I would upload my papers into the Grammarly site as a way to proofread before submitting it. This app has saved me from making a countless amount of mistakes.
There was a recent update that now includes a Tone Checker. I currently work in fundraising and often question if I am using the correct tone in communications with donors. Grammarly uses fun emojis to depict the tone of your writing, so that you can make adjustments.
An additional perk is that Grammarly sends you weekly Writing Update emails that give you stats on your writing abilities so that you can track your progress. There is also a premium option that helps with the readability of your document, extends suggestions to enhance your vocabulary and even detects plagiarism. Working with a partner or team? Trying to manage multiple projects alone? Well, Trello may be exactly what you need to stay on top of things.
Trello is a great organizing tool that can help you stay on top of things. This app makes project management fun. With a visually pleasing layout and user-friendly features, Trello excels at making you feel great about the project you are working on.
You can create tasks, checklists, add due dates, make notes, and tag fellow team members to different phases of a project. You can do so many things and organize them all in one place.
With the capability to connect with platforms like Outlook, Slack, and Google, it makes it easy to save important project details, share documents and write notes to help you make progress with your tasks. You can even create rules to predict your typical usage. If you are working with other team members you can track user activity.
I am currently using Trello to help me manage a multiple of tasks that I need to get done for a fundraising event. Tracking guest’s names, silent auction items, venue details, and important contacts. It is really helping me stay on top of things.
